Day 2 wrap up...

As promised, I am filling in today's details... All five of our teams are off to a great start. The stories of the people that we get to build houses for are incredible. At some point we may share them with you, but right now lets just say that they all understand need at a different level than we do.

Our teams did wonderful. Each has met their family and started building their house for them. Today work was focused on meeting the families, organizing the supplies and framing up the walls. All of our teams have started on the walls and have done a great job.

Also most of our teams have met many local children who live in the Colonia (village) that they are building in. Today they need to get to know the kids so they can invite them to Vacation Bible School that starts tomorrow. It has been incredible to see the image of God in each of the precious children that we met today. The children are the highlight of the trip for most of our students. Today they played soccer with them while taking a break from building.

One cool thing has been how overjoyed and helpful our families are as we build for them. They seem mto really enjoy working along side us. Steve, one of our team leaders, had 4-5 Mexican children hammering nails and painting along with his team. These children were so excited to have the opportunity to work alongside our teens

After we got back from the worksite today most of our students took a jump in the pool to cool down.

We also had a wonderful evening session with awesome worship and a chance to share about what we are learning about God here.

There is lots more to tell... I will write again a few times tomorrow. I am sharing your comments with our students and leaders so please leave some!

Heather and Mary I pray that you two are being beacons of God's light to everyone around you. Live a legacy! I love you two so. And may you all remember what Jesus said:

No one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God will fail to recieve many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life. -Luke 18:29-30

May you all worship Him in all you do.

-Julie (Heather's sister and Mary's cousin)

Thanks for the great pics. The children are beautiful and it's wonderful to hear them wanting to be right next to you helping. God is already answering your prayers for building relationships and opening the hearts of the people. Keep up the good work and attitudes. You will be blessed for it. Praying for you all. Luv you Laura. M&D,Meg,Babe,Thumps
